Parent journey

Four calm steps when something at school needs clarity. You do not need to do everything at once. Keep dates, stay factual, and use official channels first.

Trust ladder. Tracker reports are moderated parent tips — not proven fact and not an official school record. Documents and independent corroboration raise confidence: parent tip → corroborated → document on file.
  1. Notice something

A notice, assignment, assembly, library title, opt-out window, or conversation that raises a clear question.

    • Write the date, school, grade/class, and what you saw or heard — without naming staff in public tips.
    • Prefer primary sources: the notice itself, agenda PDF, board policy link.

  2. Document it

Build a quiet paper trail before you escalate. One clear ask beats a long list.

    • Save copies (photo or PDF) with the date.
    • Use the evidence locker checklist so follow-ups stay factual.

  3. Tip the Tracker

Optional. Moderated tips help other parents spot patterns. Tips stay tips until documents or corroboration raise the ladder.

    • Pick your board and school; omit staff names.
    • Attach a notice photo or policy link when you have one (document on file).

  4. Escalate calmly

Teacher → principal → school council → trustee / board process → FOI / ministry channels where published. Stay within speaking time; follow up in writing.

    • Use your province process map for notice, opt-outs, library challenges, and FOI.
    • Meeting playbook: before / during / after checklists.
